Catalyst Introduces Waterproof Cases for iPhone 7 and Apple Watch 2

11/16/2016 By Hakan Can

Catalyst waterproof case iPhone 7

Catalyst waterproof case iPhone 7Catalyst Intros Waterproof Cases for iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and Apple Watch Series 2

It feels like yesterday when Apple introduced their latest mobile devices, the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and Apple Watch Series 2, to the world. Earlier this month, Catalyst Case, one of the best names in iPhone and iPad protection, followed suit and announced their complementary products, the Catalyst® case for the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and both sizes of the new Apple Watch. Even though the new iPhone 7 phones have a water-resistant ingress protection rating of 67, this IP rating doesn’t make them waterproof. For that, you have to step up to IP68. I don’t know about you but when I’m poolside and hear the word ‘Cannonball.‘ I quickly get my mobile devices out of harm’s way. It’s even worse when lounging at the beach or working at a construction site. Now, you don’t have to worry about dust, dirt, and sand. With the latest products from Catalyst, you no longer have to worry these elements getting into your device. Your iPhone 7 and Watch 2 are protected.

According to CEO June Lai, “Catalyst has developed a new line of waterproof cases that sets a new industry leading standard for total protection. Our latest products offer the highest level of waterproof protection using our proprietary air and water tight case construction featuring our True Sound Acoustics that allow clear audio transmission over a frequency range of 50Hz to 20,000Hz. Our solutions protect your device from all the elements.”

Per Chief Creative Officer Josh Wright, “I am incredibly proud of the products our team has developed and brought to market over the last several years. Our latest creations are hands down the most high performance, rugged, everyday cases that we’ve ever made. But we do more than protect. Catalyst enables people to take and use their devices at the beach, snowboarding or skiing, in turbulent weather and in rough and dirty work environments. I’m excited to introduce this new line of products to the market.”

Caseco Shock Express Metallic Case, Core 360, and Mountie Car Mount Review

Caseco Shock Express Metallic Case

Caseco Shock Express Metallic Case for iPhone 6s and Galaxy S7 …

… Plus Core 360 and Mountie Car Mount Reviews

I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Want to know how we test the mobile phone cases and accessories we receive? Answer: I give them to my niece and older nephew for a couple of weeks. This way, any biases I may have are quickly eliminated. You see, they don’t care about brand names and multi-million dollar ad budgets. Don’t tell the public relations and marketing firms this. They’ll freak out if more teens adopt this philosophy. My brother’s kids only care about quality, reliability, features, and to a lesser degree, price. So when I had the chance to review a few cases and car mounts from a niche brand from Canada, I seized the opportunity. Let’s take a close look at the Caseco Shock Express Metallic case for the Apple iPhone 6s and Samsung Galaxy S7 as well as examine the Caseco Core 360 and Mountie car mounts.

Caseco Shock Express Metallic Case

Now I’m just going to come out and say it, this brand rocks! Over the past year, my niece and older nephew have received plenty of sample cases, mostly from well-known brands. While they like most, they’re not enamored by them. Then I gave my nephew the Caseco Shock Express Metallic case for the Samsung Galaxy S7. He instantly loved it and had plenty of positive feedback (see his words below) and for once, there was no negative feedback.Caseco Shock Express Metallic Case

Pros:
• The case fits the phone snug and buttons on the side perfect.
• Pattern on the back is minimal.
• There is a custom “add-on” to the case for the speaker that propels the sound waves forward, a touch I haven’t seen on any phone case.
• The headphone jack is big enough for any aux cord or headphones plug which has been an issue for my last case.
• The case itself is pretty minimal, it doesn’t add too much weight or bulk to your phone.
• Pattern on the back doesn’t get smudged easily.
• Case has a studded design on the sides for a sure grip.
• Comes with screen protector.

Cons:
• None

Other features of the Shock Express Metallic case include the following:

• Drop-proof, shock-absorbing construction.
• Meets MIL-STD 810G 516.6 military drop tests.

The same goes for the Shock Express case for the Apple iPhone 6/6s. In addition to what my nephew stated above, my writer Elliott mentioned: “the gradual bezel curves upward in the corners, giving the screen good clearance when face down while still keeping a thin design.” He did have one Con though: “It would be nice if the back of the phone were a little more skid resistant to keep it from sliding off tables when facing up.”

The Shock Express Metallic Galaxy S7 case comes in four unique colors: aquamarine, marsala, strawberry ice, and black, and lists for $29.99.

The Shock Express iPhone 6/6s case comes in six unique colors: aquamarine, marsala, strawberry ice, white, blue, and silver, and lists for $29.99.

Caseco Core 360 and Mountie Car Mounts

I’m skeptical when it comes to mobile phone car mounts. I’ve seen so many bulky ones over the years that I’ve been turned off to such devices. Caseco takes a much needed minimalist approach to the mobile phone (magnetic) car mount. You can go with the Mountie, which affixes to the AC/Heating vents, or you can use the Core 360 by gluing it in place on the dash. Both devices work as advertised, working well in our tests, holding cased mobile devices up to 1.3 lbs. These mounts receive our highest recommendations.

[envira-gallery id=”6383″]

There’s one downside I should mention regarding the Mountie, something I experienced firsthand. The spring which holds the device to the vent is quite strong. If you remove the Mountie from the air vent, be very careful as you may scratch the latter. I advise putting down a piece of tape first in the event you wish to remove your mount.

Both the Core 360 and Mountie offer 360 degrees of rotation. The Core 360 even tilts 30 degrees to either side.

Caseco Shock Express Metallic Case

Core 360 Magnetic Car Mount is available in two colors: black and black/red, and it lists for $39.99. Caseco Mountie is available in black only and lists for $24.99

Core 360 package contents: one car mount, two metal mounting discs, and one replacement 3M adhesive.

Materials: Anodized aluminum alloy
Magnet: Neodymium
Adhesives: VHB by 3M™

Mountie package contents: one spring-loaded vent mount and one metal disc with adhesive.

Materials: Hard plastic with rubberized coating
Neodymium magnet
VHB adhesive by 3M™

New Speck Apple iPhone 7 Case Designs Are Introduced

Speck Presidio Apple iPhone 7 case

New Speck Apple iPhone 7 Case Models (and iPhone 7 Plus too)

Two days ago at the Apple Special Event in San Francisco, CA, the folks at Apple introduced what are arguably their greatest mobile phones created to date–the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. As soon as this event was over, dozens of case manufacturers followed suit and introduced new products of their own for use with Apple’s latest creations. Of these, we at Beantown have our favorites, and among them, comes the latest from Speck. We thought we would see additions to the CandyShell line. Instead we got a whole new line–Presidio. So without further adieu, we’d like to introduce the new Presidio line of Apple iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus case designs from Speck Products.

Introducing Speck Presidio Apple iPhone 7 and 7 Plus Cases

Speck Presidio Apple iPhone 7 caseSpeck has introduced Presidio, and with it, seven new Apple iPhone 7 and six Apple iPhone 7 Plus case designs:

  • Presidio
  • Presidio Clear
  • Presidio Clear + Glitter
  • Presidio Clear + Print
  • Presidio Grip
  • Presidio Inked
  • Presidio Wallet

All new Speck Presidio case designs are available for both the Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, with the exception of the Presidio Wallet. The latter is only available for use with the iPhone 7.

[envira-gallery id=”6031″]

The Presidio Clear, Clear + Glitter, and Clear + Print case designs are aimed at those who want a clean, clear, maybe even slightly colorful or patterned look. Although these Clear designs are now 8-foot drop tested, they take a minimalist design approach, which is fine for many of us. They also have a dual-layered design.

The Presidio Grip case design offers a slightly higher level of device protection over its Presidio Clear cousins. This model is 10-foot drop tested. And it comes with that famous Speck no-slip grip.

Like the Presidio Grip, the Presidio and Presidio Inked case designs are geared towards those who want a higher level of device protection. These two models come in a dual-layer design which offers better protection when your device hits the ground on one of its corners. This model is 10-foot drop tested.

Like the Presidio and Presidio Inked, the Presidio Wallet case has that higher level of device protection in a dual-layer design. The Wallet is so named as it can hold up to 3 credit cards or a bit of cash. It too is 10-foot drop tested.

Speck’s Presidio Case Design

What differentiates Presidio from the CandyShell model is this product they call IMPACTIUM™. It’s their new shock-absorbing material that disperses the load away from the impact site. The Presidio Clear case designs utilize a product called IMPACTIUM™ CLEAR.

Speck Presidio Apple iPhone 7 case

According to Bryan Hynecek, Speck’s Design Chief, “Shrinking the bulk-to-protection ratio is the fundamental design challenge we face as we continue to innovative in our industry. Presidio represents a significant breakthrough for the Speck design team. It is the most protective case we’ve built, and adds 20 percent less bulk to your device than CandyShell, which is already the standard for slim impact protection.”

Presidio Clear, Clear + Glitter, and Clear + Print Cases

The new Presidio Clear, Clear + Glitter, and Clear + Print case designs are the perfect way to show off the factory finish of your new Apple iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus.

[envira-gallery id=”6020″]

These dual-layer cases offer twice the military-grade drop protection and are either completely clear, clear with a printed design, or offer shimmering glitter to display the new finish of your iPhone 7/7 Plus.

[envira-gallery id=”6019″]

If this isn’t enough, the Presidio Clear is resistant to scratches, ultraviolet light and many chemicals, and it resists yellowing.

[soliloquy id=”5959″]

The Presidio Clear case is available in Clear or Onyx Black.

The Presidio Clear + Glitter case is available in Clear, Onyx, and Rose Pink all with Gold Glitter.

The Presidio Clear + Print case, one of our two favorites, is available in 9 designs, all shown above.

All three Speck Presidio Clear model lines come with IMPACTIUM™ CLEAR protection.

Presidio Grip iPhone 7 Cases

As we mentioned above, the Presidio Grip case designs offer more protection over its Presidio Clear cousins. And this case design is 10-foot drop tested, more then double the military standard MIL-STD-810F.

[soliloquy id=”5986″]

The Presidio Grip case is available in 6 designs, all shown above.

Presidio and Presidio Inked iPhone 7 Cases

The Presidio and Presidio Inked have wraparound designs, printed with scratch-resistant technology. Between these two case designs, you’ve got 16 patterns to choose from for your Apple iPhone 7. These two designs offer some truly eye-catching patterns and color combinations that make protecting your phone more stylish than ever.

[soliloquy id=”5945″]

The Presidio case is available in in 7 designs, all shown above.

[soliloquy id=”5997″]

The Presidio Inked case, the second of our two favorites, is available in 9 designs, all shown above.

Presidio Wallet iPhone 7 Cases

The most intriguing of all the Speck Presidio line is the Presidio Wallet. Having the ability to secure up to 3 credit cards or some cash within the case puts everything within one pocket, minus your keys of course.

[soliloquy id=”6011″]

The Presidio Wallet case is available in 3 designs: Black/Black, Mineral Teal/Jewel Teal, and Syrah Purple/Magenta Pink.

Speck’s Presidio, Presidio Inked, Presidio Grip, and Presidio Wallet model lines all come with IMPACTIUM™ shock barrier protection.

Speckulations and Final Thoughts

As you’ve seen above, Speck has a lot more to offer than most case manufacturers when it comes to protecting your Apple iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 devices.

Speck continues to raise the bar on the competition with their Presidio series. Speck’s Presidio cases have a limited lifetime warranty with a 30-day guarantee.

Presidio Clear, Clear + Glitter, and Clear + Inked are available at SpeckProducts, Amazon (see below) and other online and brick-and-mortar retailers with list pricing of $39.95 and $44.95 (2), respectively.

Presidio and Presidio Grip are available with list pricing of $39.95.

Presidio Inked and Presidio Wallet are available with list pricing of $44.95.

Trident Apple iPhone 7 case

At the Apple Special Event in San Francisco, CA, the folks at Apple introduced what is arguably their greatest mobile phones created to date–the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. As soon as this was over, dozens of case manufacturers followed suit and introduced new products of their own for use with Apple’s latest creations. Of these, we at Beantown have our favorites, and among them, comes the latest from Trident Case. So without further adieu, we’d like to introduce to you, the new Apple iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus case designs from Trident Case.Trident Apple iPhone 7 case

Updated Dec 2016. As part of Trident Case’s holiday campaign, everything site wide is 40% off, plus free shipping with Coupon Code Holiday40. If interested, act quickly as this discount only lasts through December 31, 2016.

New Trident Apple iPhone 7 Case Models (as well as iPhone 7 Plus)

Today, Trident Case introduced four cases for the Apple iPhone 7: Aegis, Cyclops, Kraken AMS, and Krios, and three for the the iPhone 7 Plus: Aegis, Kraken AMS, and Krios. Each model is geared toward a different user.

The Krios dual case is aimed at those who like a clean, clear looking mobile phone. It takes a minimalist design approach to protection, which is just fine for many of us.

The Aegis series case is geared towards those who want (and likely need) a medium level of case protection. It also adds some color in the palm of your hand.

The Cyclops iPhone 7 case takes the level of protection a bit higher, but not quite to Kraken A.M.S. territory. This higher level of protection comes with 8 feet of drop protection.

The Kraken AMS series case is for those who need heavy-duty protection for their mobile phone. It’s ideal for those who work in rugged environments as well as those in the trades (construction, electrical, plumbing, etc.) It now has 10 feet of drop protection.

The Heavy-Duty, Military-Tested Kraken A.M.S.

The Kraken A.M.S. case line has been around since August 2013 when it was first introduced for roughly 40 mobile products. Since then, it’s been available for an additional 40+ products and now, it makes its way onto the Apple iPhone 7 & 7 Plus. This is the toughest case Trident Case manufacturers. Need proof? Just look at the military standards the Kraken A.M.S. case has passed:

  • Drop (Mil-STD-810F, Method 516.5) – 26 drops onto concrete from 4 feet.
  • Vibration (Mil-STD-810F, Method 514.5) from 20-2000Hz across 3 different axes for a total of 18 hours.
  • Dust (Mil-STD-810F, Method 510.4) – blow dust for 3 hours at 29 ft/sec.
  • Sand (Mil-STD-810F, Method 510.4) – blow sand for 3 hours at 59 ft/sec.
  • Rain (Mil-STD-810F, Method 506.4) – 7.9 inches per hour of rain at 40 mph wind velocity for 1 hour.

(Information provided by Trident Case via independent testing.)

If you’ve got one of these cases on your Apple iPhone 6/6s, then you know how sturdy and reliable this case is. And if you’re looking for accessories for the Kraken A.M.S. series, look no further. There are more Kraken A.M.S. accessories than you can shake a stick at.

A couple of dozen models later, it’s September 2016 and two more Krios models are introduced, this time for the Apple iPhone 7 & 7 Plus.

Upon examination of this new Krios Dual case you’ll notice the thin, lightweight design, and the use of Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) material. You’ll also notice differences such as the smooth surface on the Krios Dual case.

The Krios dual case is aimed at those who like a clean, clear looking mobile phone. It takes a minimalist design approach to protection, which is just fine for many of us.

The Aegis series case is geared towards those who want (and likely need) some ruggedness when it comes to case protection. It also adds some color in the palm of your hand.

The Stylish and Durable Aegis

The Aegis case line has been around since August 2013 when it was first introduced for no less than 100 mobile products. That’s one heck of a product launch! It’s like throwing your first party and having all your friends and their friends show up.

The construction of this Aegis case is very much like that for the recently introduced Motorola’s Motor G4 and G4 Plus. The ruggedness is intact. The Military standards for drop and vibrations are intact. The polycarbonate and a thermoplastic elastomer construction are intact.

[soliloquy id=”5711″]

Features of the Aegis Case include the following:

  • Drop protection of 4′ per MIL-STD-810F.
  • Hardened bio-enhanced Polycarbonate shell construction.
  • Shock-absorbing Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) interior construction.

The Completely Transparent Dual Case Krios

The Krios case line has been around since November 2014 when it was first introduced for the Apple iPhone 6. It wasn’t until 5 months later in March 2015, when we, the consumer, started to see clear versions of the Krios case. Back in March 2015, these Krios Gel cases were designed for the Samsung Note 5, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Twenty models later, it’s February 2016 and three more Krios models are introduced, one each for the Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, and the LG G5.

When comparing this new Krios Dual case against the Gel case, you’ll notice similarities like the thin, lightweight design, and the use of Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) material. You’ll also notice differences such as the smooth surface on the Krios Dual case whereas each Gel case has a textured interior grip, as well as a slight increase in price with the new Trident Galaxy Note7 case.

Features of the Krios Dual Case include the following:

  • Hardened bio-enhanced polycarbonate body.
  • Clear Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) shock-absorbing edges.
  • Quick and easy installation.
  • Lightweight protection.
  • Anti-skid.
  • Eco-friendly design.
  • Recyclable, degradable and compostable.

Catalyst Waterproof iPhone 6s Case Review

Catalyst waterproof iphone 6s case review

Introducing the Catalyst Waterproof Case for iPhone 6s

Catalyst waterproof iphone 6s case reviewSo, you’ve spent some $600 or more on your new iPhone 6s. Or maybe, you purchased one at a discount during a device upgrade. Either way, you’ve got one. Outside of figuring out how the darn thing works, how do you protect it? While many of us don’t use a protective case, we all know that it’s a no-brainer to. Think about it? How many times have you seen a broken iPhone screen? Now, there are dozens of protective case makers out there, with hundreds of models to choose from. But what type of protection does your device need? Moreover, how do you protect it from the elements? If you work outdoors or partake in outdoor activities, have you considered a waterproof case? Below, we review one such product, the Catalyst waterproof iPhone 6s case. We investigate how the Catalyst case stacks up as a waterproof, daily phone case, and how it performs compared to competitors like LifeProof.

Pros:

  • Lightweight
  • Waterproof (16.4’/5m)
  • Drop Proof (6.6’/2m)
  • Dirt/Snow Proof
  • Attractive Design

Cons:

  • Stiff Buttons
  • Screen Protector reduces touch screen sensitivity

GIVEAWAY

Now, if this isn’t good enough, we’re giving away two (2) iPhone 6s waterproof cases in black and space gray, in partnership with Catalyst Case.

Update: The giveaway is now over.

DESIGN FEATURES

The Catalyst is very sleek in appearance.

The case is thin, with rounded corners to mirror the design of your iPhone. While the case is slightly thicker (0.2 mm) than the LifeProof alternative, it is far thinner than many of the other waterproof competitors. Rubber bumpers surround the case to provide impact protection. Moreover, the case has a clear back to showcase the design of your iPhone.

While the case is lightweight, the materials of construction are high quality and ready for adventure.

PERFORMANCE

Right off the bat, Catalyst proves their case to be superior to LifeProof in its ability to safely go deeper underwater, up to 5 meters/16.4 feet (that is double LifeProof’s maximum depth). As advised by the instructions, I tested the case underwater, without my phone in it to ensure that the seals were all intact. Catalyst’s instructions suggested 30 minutes of submersion to test the new case. I left the case underwater for several hours. When I pulled it out, the interior of the case was bone dry.

The Catalyst waterproof iPhone 6s case includes rubber stoppers to plug up the lightning connector, headphone jack, and speaker.  While the stoppers proved effective underwater, they are not fixed to the case and can be easily misplaced. For daily use on dry land, the stoppers can be easily removed, with the cutouts providing a large enough area to comfortably accommodate standard adapters like 3.5mm headphone jacks and accessories like your Lightning connector.

Catalyst also offers a waterproof headphone extension for water sports enthusiasts who want to listen to music while they swim. This accessory is an additional $15 from the Catalyst website.

Regarding drop protection, the Catalyst case performed fairly well, but it is important to note that the primary function of this case is not drop protection but rather, water protection. The Catalyst case provides MIL-STD 810G shock and drop protection from a height of 2m/6.6 feet. This is not very high when compared to cases that prioritize drop protection, but is more than good enough should it fall from your pocket or slip from your hand at ear-height.

On all protective fronts, the Catalyst case performed well. However, there were a couple of issues with the accessibility to your phone after the case was installed. The biggest issue with this case is that it makes the buttons on your phone harder to use. I enjoyed the functionality of the click wheel for the mute switch, but the volume and hold buttons were very stiff and hard to press.

Catalyst waterproof iphone 6s case review

The only other issue with this case was touch screen sensitivity. The clear plastic cover on the front of the case provided excellent scratch protection, but as such it is moderately thick. Naturally, the thickness of the front screen decreased the sensitivity of my iPhone’s touch screen, making certain functions (like the drop down or drag up menus) difficult to access. I think the primary reason for this issue is not necessarily the thickness of the protective screen but rather, the slight gap between the plastic and the real screen. However, other functions like TouchID performed very well and were not hindered by the case.

CONCLUSION

All in all, I thought the Catalyst case performed well. Aside from the setbacks in accessibility, this case is aesthetically pleasing and high performing. Priced at $69.99, it is less expensive than the LifeProof alternative and outperforms the LifeProof in waterproof depth.

The standout function of this case is the deep-water protection. Taking your phone underwater is a dangerous game, and you need to know that it is going to be protected. With the Catalyst case, you can be sure that your phone is as amphibious as they come.

The Best Speck CandyShell iPhone 6/6s Cases of 2016

Speck CandyShell iPhone 6 case

Introducing Speck CandyShell iPhone 6/6s Cases

It’s 2016 and Speck has rolled out the newest models and designs of their iconic CandyShell cases for the Apple iPhone 6/6s. In this post, we’re taking a look at Speck’s latest editions–CandyShell Clear, CandyShell Inked Luxury, and CandyShell Inked Jonathan Adler. We’ll even tell you where to get your very own Jonathan Adler iPhone 6/6s case for less than half list.

One hint–it’s the internet’s leading retailer.

[envira-gallery id=”4846″]

CandyShell Case Design and Function

All of the Speck CandyShell iPhone 6 case models fit like a glove on my recently purchased Apple iPhone.

Speck CandyShell iPhone 6 case

I had to push the cases on my iPhone more forcefully than used to with Speck products. But once it was on, the snug fit assured me that my iPhone was well-protected. The outside of the case is hard plastic with a non-slip, rubber-lined interior. A raised bezel runs the perimeter on the front of the case to protect the screen from scratches when your iPhone is faced down. At a thickness of 0.16 inch, the case is slim enough not to feel overly bulky, yet thick enough to provide ample impact protection at military-grade drop standards.

The power and volume controls click naturally beneath the rubber buttons with no fuss. At the top left of the case, there is an opening for the mute function, allowing you to operate the switch at its natural state on the iPhone. At the base of the case are openings for the 3.5mm audio jack, the Lightning adapter and the speaker. Avoiding the common issue of an improperly sized 3.5mm plug, the CandyShell cases provide a larger opening to accommodate a variety of audio jacks.

If this isn’t enough, the CandyShell Clear is resistant to ultraviolet light and many chemicals, and it resists yellowing.

CandyShell Inked Luxury for the iPhone 6/6s

[soliloquy id="4855"]

The CandyShell Inked Luxury Edition features over a dozen unique wraparound designs, printed with scratch-resistant and fade-resistant technology. This luxury series offers some truly eye-catching design and color combinations that make protecting your phone more stylish than ever.

According to Jenny Davis, Speck Colors, Materials, and Finishes Design Manager, “CandyShell Luxury Edition let us incorporate our unmatched protection with sophisticated designs so our customers never have to compromise on either. At Speck, protection is our first priority, and we never compromise on designing quality cases.”

CandyShell Inked Jonathan Adler for the iPhone 6/6s

[soliloquy id=”4857″]

The CandyShell Inked Jonathan Adler Series offers eight “impeccable designs” from the world-renowned New Jersey-born designer. Coupled with all the same protective features; you will be inclined to put your iPhone face down, just to check out these unique designs.

According to Bryan Hynecek, VP of Design, “Consumers shouldn’t have to compromise on protection when they buy a designer case. With the new Jonathan Adler by Speck collection, they don’t have to.”

Speckulations and Final Thoughts

All in all, these are excellent cases, which earn our highest recommendation. Speck continues to dominate with their CandyShell series’. List priced from $34.95-$49.95; these cases are a worthy purchase that will last you a long time. The hard plastic exterior and non-slip rubber interior provide a snug fit with MIL-STD-810G military-grade drop protection. The raised screen bezel ensures that your iPhone is shielded at all angles. There’s no compromise to the functionality of your iPhone 6/6s in any way. Moreover, the safety is significantly improved.

The CandyShell series has dozens of varieties and colors to find the perfect fit for your personality and lifestyle.

Speck’s CandyShell cases have a one-year limited warranty with a 30-day guarantee.

CandyShell Clear and Clear with Glitter are available at SpeckProducts, Amazon and other retailers with list pricing of $34.95 and $39.95, respectively.

CandyShell Inked Luxury Edition cases are available at SpeckProducts, Amazon and other retailers with list pricing of $49.95.

CandyShell Inked Jonathan Adler cases are available at SpeckProducts, Amazon and other retailers with list pricing of $49.95. Amazon currently has all eight designs between $12-18, which by our definition is a steal.

Trident Case Introduces Two New LG G5 Cases

Trident LG G5 Case

Eleven days ago at the annual Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Catalonia Spain, the folks at LG Electronics introduced their latest flagship mobile phone series–the LG G5. Within a day, a handful of case manufacturers followed suit and introduced new products of their own for use with the latest model. Of these, we at Beantown have our favorites, and among them, comes the latest from Trident Case. So without further adieu, we’d like to introduce to you, the newest two Trident LG G5 case designs.

New Trident LG G5 Case Models

Last week, Trident Case introduced two models for the upcoming LG G5: Aegis Pro and Krios. Each model is geared toward a different user.

The Krios dual case is aimed at those who like a clean, clear looking mobile phone. It takes a minimalist design approach to protection, which is just fine for many of us.

The Aegis Pro series case is geared towards those who want (and likely need) some ruggedness when it comes to case protection. It also adds some color in the palm of your hand.

The Stylish and Durable Aegis Pro

The Aegis case line has been around since August 2013 when it was first introduced for no less than 100 mobile products. It wasn’t until September 2015 when we consumers were introduced to the first Aegis Pro case. Although there have been some 200 models in the Aegis line, the Aegis Pro line exists for only 5 mobile phones: the Apple 6/6S, LG G5, Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 Edge.

The construction of this Aegis Pro case is very much like that for Apple’s iPhone 6/6S. The ruggedness is intact. The Military standards (shown below) for drop and vibrations are intact. The polycarbonate and a thermoplastic elastomer construction are intact.

The same cannot be said when compared to the Aegis case for the LG G4. The G4 case is noticeably different than the current Aegis Pro G5 model. Although materials of construction are the same, the actual construction is not. Angled corners have been replaced with rounded edges. The somewhat-squarish look has been replaced with a smooth, modern one. Plus, the color schemes have improved. In our opinion, the new case is much better looking than its predecessor.

Worried about the Aegis Pro’s ruggedness? Don’t be. Just look at the passed military standards of this case:

  • Drop (Mil-STD-810F, Method 516.5) – 26 drops onto concrete from 4 feet.
  • Vibration (Mil-STD-810F, Method 514.5) from 20-2000Hz across 3 different axes for a total of 18 hours.
[soliloquy id=”4132″]

Features of the Aegis Pro Case include the following:

  • Drop protection of 4′ per MIL-Standard.
  • Hardened bio-enhanced Polycarbonate shell construction.
  • Shock-absorbing Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) interior construction.
  • Textured and padded interior.
  • Dust and moisture filters via waterproof meshing.
  • Power and audio ports protection.
  • Quick and easy installation.
  • Eco-friendly design.
  • Recyclable, degradable and compostable.

The Aegis Pro Series™ cases are available for pre-order now with a starting ship date of March 28. The series come in 3 unique colors: black, bubblegum pink, and classic blue, and list for $29.99. The blue and pink versions are softer, less colorful than those offered for the G4.
